Faridabad rape case: Woman assaulted in ambulance, not van

Faridabad

A shocking new detail has emerged in the Faridabad gang-rape case, with police confirming that the 25-year-old woman was assaulted inside a private hospital’s ambulance, not a van as initially reported. According to investigators, the two accused, who worked as a driver and helper with the ambulance service, allegedly offered the woman a lift near Metro Chowk around midnight while she was returning home after visiting a friend in Sector 23. Instead of taking her to her destination, they drove towards Gurugram, locked the vehicle, snatched her phone, and reportedly raped her as the city lay covered in dense fog.

The accused later dumped her near Raja Chowk around 3 am on Tuesday. The survivor, who remains hospitalised six days after the incident, is yet to undergo an identification parade, which will be conducted once her condition improves. Both accused hail from Uttar Pradesh—one from Mathura and the other from Jhansi—and have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. A purported video of the survivor narrating the ordeal has surfaced, though police have not verified its authenticity. Authorities have assured further investigation, including questioning the accused again on production warrants.
