Road Safety Week Rally to Be Held Today

A road safety awareness rally will be organised in Chikkaballapur on January 2 to promote safer roads.

As part of Road Safety Week initiatives, a large-scale awareness rally will be organised in Chikkaballapur on January 2 at 10:30 am. The programme is being jointly organised by the District Legal Services Authority, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Police Department, Regional Transport Office, Advocates’ Association, and other allied departments.

The rally, titled “Road Safety Week Rally,” will commence from the District Court premises and proceed up to Sidlaghatta Circle, covering key areas of the town to spread awareness among the public about traffic rules, responsible driving, and pedestrian safety. Organisers stated that the objective of the rally is to reduce road accidents by educating citizens on the importance of following traffic regulations.

The rally will be flagged off by T.P. Ramalingegowda, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority. His participation highlights the judiciary’s active role in promoting legal awareness and public safety.

Several senior district officials and representatives from various departments are expected to participate in the event. These include District Commissioner G. Prabhu, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Y. Naveen Bhatt, Superintendent of Police Kushal Chowksey, Regional Transport Officer Nagaraj S. Nayak, Chikkaballapur City Municipal Commissioner Mansoor Ali, Chikkaballapur Advocates’ Association President K.V. Abhilash, and Advocates’ Association General Secretary T.M. Venkatesh.

Officials stated that banners, placards, and slogans highlighting helmet use, seat belts, speed limits, and avoidance of drunken driving will be part of the rally. Students, volunteers, police personnel, and members of civil society are also expected to take part in large numbers.

The organisers have appealed to citizens to participate actively and support the cause, emphasising that road safety is a shared responsibility and awareness is key to saving lives.
