BENGALURU
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram and others have expressed outrage over Infosys, which is facing allegations of selling land received from KIADB for industrial purposes to a real estate company, and have demanded that the land and money be returned to the state government immediately. It has been alleged that 53.5 acres of land, which was allotted to Infosys by KIADB many years ago in Attibele hobli of Anekal taluk, has been agreed to be sold to a real estate company for Rs 250 crore.
Karti Chidambaram, who has taken a dig at Infosys on social media, said that if land is acquired at a concessional rate for a specific purpose, but the land is not used for that purpose, the company that acquired the land does not have the right to sell it. Similarly, Infosys also does not have the right to sell land to another company. Therefore, he has demanded that Infosys immediately return the land and money to the Karnataka government.
Kavita Reddy said that earlier, businessman Kiran Majumdar Shah had spoken against farmers who had given land for development works. Now, she questioned what Kiran Majumdar Shah has to say against Infosys, which sold the land it had acquired from KIADB at a low price. She also said that Infosys had acquired land from KIADB on the promise of job creation and investment. Now, the fact that that land has been sold to a real estate company is condemnable.
Despite allegations of land sale by Infosys, KIADB, which was supposed to investigate the matter, has not taken any action so far. Did Infosys sell the land. If the land was sold, was it legally permissible. If there is a violation of the rules, what action will be taken against Infosys.
This should be called capitalism, real estate mafia. The farmers of Anekal area are fighting against land acquisition and are demanding that the KIADB issue a white paper on a complete audit of land, distribution, use, investment, job creation and other issues, he said in his X-account.
