Safety for forest staff

Forest Minister Ishwar Khandre said in a media statement that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with Bank of Baroda to provide accident (death) insurance of Rs. 1 crore to permanent officers and staff of the Forest Department and insurance of Rs. 20 lakh to outsourced staff.
The department has lost some brave green warriors who are working day and night to protect forests and wildlife, facing danger. This MoU has been signed to provide social and economic security to all of them, he explained.
The role of outsourced staff is also important in forest and wildlife conservation. Hence, an insurance facility of Rs 20 lakh has been provided to the outsourced staff as well. The bank will provide an accidental death insurance of Rs 1 crore to all permanent employees of the forest department, irrespective of their salary and rank. The minister said that if someone dies while on duty, the bank will pay an additional Rs 25 lakh.
If the employees of the department continue to have a pension account with Bank of Baroda, this personal accident insurance cover facility will continue till the age of 70. In addition, the bank will also provide life insurance cover of Rs. 10 lakhs to permanent employees, he said.
In the interest of the employees of the Forest Department and their families, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the Bank of Baroda, and many special benefits will be available. Everyone has been advised to be aware of this and to open a salary account in the Bank of Baroda, said Minister Ishwar Khandre.
