NEW DELHI
India will announce its squads for the 2026 T20 World Cup and the upcoming home series against New Zealand on Saturday. The Ajit Agarkar led selection committee will meet at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to finalise the teams.
Along with the World Cup squad, selectors will also name players for the New Zealand white ball series, which includes three One Day Internationals and five T20 Internationals next month.
India are currently playing a five match T20I series against South Africa at home. The final match of the series will be played in Ahmedabad on Friday, just a day before the selection meeting.
The BCCI confirmed that a press conference will follow the meeting, with captain Suryakumar Yadav and chief selector Ajit Agarkar addressing the media.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on February 7 and will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Twenty teams will compete across eight venues in both countries.
Defending champions India are placed in Group A with Pakistan, the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands. India will open their campaign against the USA in Mumbai, aiming to become the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title. Fans expect clarity and balance from selectors nationwide.
