Clash erupts over Waqf Board property in Masti village

Kolar
Tension prevailed in Masti village of Malur taluk in the district following a violent confrontation between two groups over a disputed Waqf Board property. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Masti police station and involved a long-standing dispute over nearly 11 acres of land belonging to the Waqf Board.

According to local sources, the land in question was originally donated to the Waqf Board by the descendants of Syed Rasool Darvesh. The property includes an Eidgah as well as a building that has been leased out, both of which are officially recorded as Waqf Board assets. The land has reportedly been under the management of mosque authorities for religious and community purposes.

However, the dispute escalated when certain members of Syed Rasool Darvesh’s family raised objections, claiming ownership of the land. They allegedly argued that the property belonged to their family and not to the Waqf Board. This disagreement soon turned violent, with the family members reportedly attacking mosque leaders using stones and sticks.

Eyewitnesses said the clash created panic in the village, as both groups engaged in heated arguments that quickly escalated into physical violence. Residents rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion, while some attempted to defuse the situation. The incident disrupted normal life in the area for a brief period.

Masti police were alerted soon after the clash and reached the spot to bring the situation under control. Police officials dispersed the groups and restored order, preventing further escalation. Preliminary inquiries have been initiated to ascertain the sequence of events and identify those involved in the violence.

Officials stated that the ownership and legal status of the land will be examined based on available records and documentation. Police have also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of instigating violence or disturbing communal harmony.
