Amavasya pooja performed at Chittanalamma temple

Special Amavasya rituals at Chittanalamma Devi temple in Holalu drew devotees, community leaders, and neighbouring villagers in Mandya.

A special religious ceremony was organised at the Sri Chittanalamma Devi, also known as Sri Pattaladamma Devi, Temple in Holalu village of Mandya taluk on the occasion of Amavasya on Friday. The sacred rituals were conducted with traditional fervour and devotion, marking the significance of the lunar day that holds spiritual importance among devotees across the region.

On the auspicious occasion, the idol of the goddess was worshipped with a series of special abhishekas, including kumkuma abhisheka, turmeric abhisheka, and sandalwood abhisheka. Following these rituals, the deity was adorned with a silver face mask and decorated with turmeric, enhancing the divine splendour of the idol and creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere within the temple premises.

The special pooja and associated rituals were performed under the guidance and participation of the temple president and former MLA H.B. Ramu, along with members of Smt. Honnamma’s family. Their involvement reflected continued community leadership and dedication towards preserving local religious traditions and supporting temple activities.

As it was Amavasya, a large number of women, children, and devotees from Holalu and neighbouring villages gathered at the temple to participate in the pooja. Many devotees offered prayers seeking the blessings of the goddess for health, prosperity, and family well-being. The temple premises witnessed a steady flow of worshippers throughout the day, highlighting the faith and devotion associated with the goddess.

Several office-bearers and members of the temple trust were present during the event. Those in attendance included Trust Honorary President H.L. Shivanna, Secretary Shivalingayya, Treasurer Patel Ramu, and members Sadananda, Jattikumar, Ningegowda Ningaraju, Chandan, C.K. Nagaraju, and Ravikumar. Temple Manager Shivaramu, Assistant Suresh, Muddegowda, and chief priest Narasimhamurthy also played key roles in ensuring the smooth conduct of the rituals.
