District Collector P.N. Ravindra released the promotional flyer for the 24th Kuvempu Drama Festival

As part of cultural initiatives aimed at promoting Kannada literature and theatre, the flyer for the 24th Kuvempu Drama Festival–2025 was officially released on Thursday by Chikkaballapur District Collector P.N. Ravindra. The event was held at the District Administration Bhavan, marking the formal announcement of the upcoming drama festival scheduled to take place later this month.
The three-day Kuvempu Drama Festival will be organised by the National Award-winning children’s organisation Ranga Kahale, Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Department of Kannada and Culture, Bengaluru. The festival will be held at Kannada Bhavan in Chikkaballapur city from December 27 to December 29, with programmes scheduled daily at 6 pm. As part of the festival, audiences will be treated to two stage plays along with short film screenings, offering a blend of theatrical and visual storytelling rooted in literary and social themes.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted the importance of such festivals in preserving and promoting the ideals of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, one of Karnataka’s most celebrated literary figures. The festival aims to bring Kuvempu’s universal humanistic message closer to people through meaningful theatrical performances, especially benefiting students, youth, and literature enthusiasts in the district.
Several dignitaries were present during the flyer release ceremony, including Additional District Collector Dr. N. Bhaskar, Sub-Divisional Officer D.H. Ashwin, Kannada Sahitya Parishad District President Dr. Kodirangappa, and Ranga Kahale organisation’s convener Ohilesha Lakshmana. They expressed their support for the festival and underlined the role of cultural platforms in strengthening Kannada identity and values.
Ranga Kahale Sanstha has been actively working for over three decades to spread the philosophy, ideals, and universal outlook of Kuvempu through drama and creative performances. The organisation has gained recognition for its consistent efforts in using theatre as a medium for social awareness and literary appreciation, particularly among children and young audiences.
