The Malur police have successfully cracked a murder case that had sent shockwaves across Kolar district, arresting the accused after nearly three months of continuous and focused investigation. The case pertains to the brutal killing of a young man employed at a private company in the industrial area of Malur taluk.
The deceased, identified as Arnab, was a native of West Bengal and was working at the Westron company located in the Malur industrial zone. According to police sources, the incident occurred at around 10:45 pm when Arnab was walking after completing his work shift. He was attacked by miscreants near Shivarapatnam village, where he was stabbed multiple times and left to die on the spot. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack, leaving no immediate clues behind.
The murder caused widespread concern among industrial workers and local residents, as the victim was targeted during routine movement after work hours. The case posed a significant challenge to the police due to the lack of eyewitnesses and the absence of direct evidence in the initial stages of the investigation.
Under the leadership of Malur Police Station Inspector Ramappa B. Gutter, a special crime team was formed to investigate the case. The team conducted extensive fieldwork, including examination of technical evidence, analysis of call detail records, scrutiny of CCTV footage from nearby areas, and interrogation of multiple suspects. Police sources said sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering played a key role in narrowing down the accused.
