Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday said that saving energy today is crucial for strengthening India’s energy security in the years to come. He stressed that responsible energy use will help the country move towards a safer and greener future.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the minister highlighted the importance of energy conservation in nation building. He said that every unit of power saved today adds strength to India’s energy security tomorrow and supports sustainable development. Joshi urged citizens to adopt simple and efficient energy practices in their daily lives.
The minister’s remarks come at a time when the central government is strongly promoting renewable energy and conservation efforts across all sectors. He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to building a cleaner and environmentally responsible Bharat.
Earlier, Joshi informed Parliament that the government has no plan to cancel or scrap any green energy project in the country. In a written reply, he clarified that no renewable energy project awarded so far has been cancelled, nor has any list been prepared for future cancellations.
He stated that Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies such as SECI, NTPC, NHPC and SJVN have issued letters of award for 67,554 megawatt of renewable power projects since April 2023.
Joshi also said that state governments are issuing their own renewable power tenders. In addition, renewable capacity is growing in commercial and industrial sectors through green energy open access and captive routes.
The minister noted that falling costs of solar-plus-storage systems are making them attractive to power distribution companies, as they supply electricity during peak demand hours.
