Four held, fake PSI among extortion gang

Four people, including a fake PSI, who were posing as real police officers and extorting money by threatening them, have been arrested.

Mallikarjuna, Pramod, Vinay, Hrithik are the arrested accused. The accused had planned to enter the house and rob it by threatening it. The police have arrested four people who had threatened the person and committed the dacoity. 

The incident took place in the limits of Vidyaranyapura police station. Mallikarjuna had written the exam twice to become a PSI. He failed both times. Despite this, he had passed the exam and made a show in the village that he had become a PSI. He had done a photo shoot wearing a police uniform, baton, cap and shoes. He had also given a buildup in his hometown Siraguppa that he had become a PSI in Bengaluru.

Mallikarjuna had taken a detour to live a luxurious life. For this, Mallikarjuna was accompanied by accused Hrithik, who had been observing Naveen very closely. He had told Mallikarjuna that if he broke into Naveen’s house, he would get money and gold ornaments. Accordingly, the accused entered Naveen’s house in a car on the 7th of this month, dressed in police uniform.

They threatened to search the house if they were selling ganja. They attacked Naveen with a stick and an iron rod. They said that they should not be arrested, that is, they should pay the money, so they stole 87 thousand from the account, 53 thousand from the wallet, and 2 thousand from the purse and fled. Naveen had filed a case in this regard at the Vidyaranyapura police station. 

Police have arrested four people, including a fake PSI, in an operation. They have seized Rs 45,000 in cash and the car used in the crime. The investigation by Vidyaranyapura police is ongoing.
