Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar has assured that all obstacles hindering the implementation of schemes under the Directorate of Child Protection will be removed. Chairing a meeting with department officials at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi, the minister reviewed issues related to the effective execution of integrated child protection programmes and listened to the challenges with empathy.
CITU president Varalakshmi drew the minister’s attention to certain shortcomings in the implementation of child protection initiatives and other departmental schemes. Responding to this, Minister Hebbalkar instructed officials present at the meeting to take necessary action to resolve the bottlenecks affecting the smooth execution of various programmes.
She also promised to convene a separate meeting soon with officials from the Finance Department to discuss and address issues related to financial constraints that are impacting the schemes.
Those present at the meeting included Sangamesh Babalashwar, Chairperson of the Child Development Academy; Dr. Shamla Iqbal, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department; Dr. Sneha, Director of the Child Directorate; Mahesh Babu, Director of the Women and Child Development Department; Dr. T.H. Vishwanath, the minister’s personal secretary; B.H. Nishwal, the minister’s special duty officer; CITU president Varalakshmi; and other senior officials of the department.
