The IT-BT city of Bengaluru is a big market for drug peddlers, and drug peddlers who have targeted the capital are supplying drugs through many routes, avoiding the eyes of the police. This drug network has spread not only to Bengaluru but also to rural and other districts. With only a few days left for the New Year, people are busy collecting drugs and supplying drugs for New Year’s parties. Drugs are being supplied to the Silicon City through flights, trains, buses, couriers and foreign post offices. No matter what action the police take, they have not been able to completely curb the drug trade.
Drug peddlers are making lakhs of rupees by supplying drugs to Page Three parties held in Silicon City. Page Three parties are held in pubs and hotels on MG Road, Brigade Road, UB City, Koramangala, Indira Nagar, Whitefield and Airport Road.
Police investigations have revealed that young men and women between the ages of 19 and 35 are the main targets of the drug mafia. Peddlers are more active in major areas of the city and its outskirts. They are making money by selling drugs through their own networks near schools and colleges. The youth, who get caught up in the drug network without realizing it, are ruining their own future.
The drugs racket in the capital city of Bengaluru is running rampant in the capital city of Bengaluru. The drugs worth crores seized by the CCB police this year are living proof. As a result of continuous operations conducted by teams of various police stations of Bengaluru city including the CCB, drugs worth more than Rs 162.87 crore were seized in 2025. In the last 11 months, 1078 NDPS cases have been registered in the city and 1543 accused, including 52 foreigners, have been arrested. An estimated 1446.76 kg. of drugs have been seized.
Peddlers use the darknet to smuggle drugs through couriers, foreign mail, trains and buses, converting them into small packages. They then supply them to IT-BT employees, college students and other customers and make money. Peddlers transport drugs in many ways, including transporting them in chocolates, biscuits, coffee powder, parcels, gift boxes.
Drugs are being supplied under the guise of delivery boys. Peddlers from India and abroad, especially Nigerians, South Africans, and people from Kerala, are active in peddling. Police investigations have revealed that a large quantity of ganja is flowing into the city from other states including Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
Last September, the CCB police had uncovered a drug racket operating at the Supreme Suites Lodge in Ramamurthy Nagar and arrested two people. Initially, they were renting out rooms to known peddlers to consume drugs. Later, they would supply drugs themselves to customers coming to the lodge. Investigation revealed that the accused were buying and selling drugs from a Nigerian named Ismail.In the last 11 months, 1543 accused, including 52 foreigners, involved in drug peddling have been arrested in Bengaluru. 1446.76 kg of narcotics worth an estimated Rs. 162 crores have been seized. To reduce the menace of drug mafia in the city, more aggressive operations will be carried out and the drugs mafia will be eliminated, said Raja Imam Kasim, CCB DCP
