Anger against government
BENGALURU
80 thousand BPL cards are being revised in the city, changing from BPL to APL. Women are crying because the cards have been deleted. They are wandering to the food department every day because they are not getting rice.
BPL cards are being revised in Bengaluru based on own house, tax payment, three acres of land as income source. The central government has deleted about 80 thousand cards across Bengaluru. For the last three to four months, 80 thousand cards have not been getting rice. Cardholders who were deleted due to not getting rice are visiting the Food Department in Rajajinagar. Hundreds of women holding BPL cards have expressed their frustration that the officials are not listening to them even after explaining that they do not pay taxes, do not have land, do not have their own house.
Residents from many areas including Vijayanagar, Sunkadakatte, Laggere, Kamakshi Palya, Agrahara Dasarahalli are coming forward to provide clarifications along with documents by holding up the cards. Only the officials are behaving irresponsibly. People have demanded that the government immediately intervene and return the deleted cards.
The Food Department is saying that they are shifting from BPL card to APL based on proper evidence, information and documents. However, people have vented their anger against the government.
