A tenth-grade student from Chitradurga has set a new state record in long jump and qualified for national competition.

A remarkable achievement has been recorded by a young athlete from Chitradurga taluk, who has earned a prestigious place in the upcoming national-level sports meet. L.H. Abhi, a Class 10 student of BLR Residential Pre-University College (High School Section), Sirigere, clinched the first place in the state-level long jump event for the under-17 category held recently in Bengaluru.
Competing against talented athletes from across Karnataka, Abhi delivered an exceptional performance by leaping 6.81 metres, setting a new state record in the process. His outstanding effort not only secured him the gold medal but also ensured his selection for the national-level athletics meet.
The national championship will be held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from December 13 to 18, where Abhi will represent Karnataka in the long jump event. His selection has brought pride to his school, district, and mentors, who have played a pivotal role in nurturing his athletic talent.
Recognizing his success, officials from the education and sports departments congratulated the young athlete. Chitradurga Block Education Officer H. Girija, Block Resource Coordinator Sampath Kumar, and Taluk Physical Education Inspector D. Suresh praised Abhi’s dedication and hard work. They also acknowledged the support of H.V. Naveen, the school’s Physical Education Teacher, and the Taraḻabāḷu Sports Academy, who have been instrumental in guiding and motivating the student throughout his training.
Abhi’s accomplishment sets a promising path for his sporting future and serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the district. As he prepares for the national stage, hopes are high that he will continue his winning streak and bring further accolades to Karnataka.
