Twelve maoists, including top leader Ramdher Majji, surrendered in Chhattisgarh, dealing a major setback to Maoist operations.

In a significant achievement for security forces, 12 Naxalites — among them the notorious Central Committee Member (CCM) Ramdher Majji — surrendered before police authorities in Chhattisgarh’s Khairagarh Chhuikhadan Gandai district. The surrender, which took place at the Bakarkatta police station, is being hailed as one of the most impactful blows to Maoist influence in the Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh (MMC) zone in recent years.
Ramdher Majji, who carried a reward of ₹1 crore on his head, was widely regarded as one of the most dangerous Maoist operatives in central India. His strategic expertise, involvement in major operations, and long-standing presence in the MMC special zonal committee area made him one of the foremost challenges for security agencies across the three states. Majji surrendered along with several senior cadres, including ACM Ramsingh Dada and ACM Sukesh Pottam, and handed over an AK-47 rifle, marking a decisive shift in the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
Police confirmed the recovery of a sizeable cache of weapons from the group, including AK-47 rifles, INSAS rifles, SLRs, .303 rifles, and 0.30 carbines. Among the 12 who surrendered were six women cadres, indicating the deep and long-standing participation of women in the upper ranks of the Maoist movement. Those who laid down arms include Lakshmi, Sheela, Yogita, Kavita, Sagar, DVCM Lalita, and DVCM Janaki. Other prominent surrenderees include DVCM Chandu Usendi and DVCM Prem.
According to senior officials, the surrender marks a critical milestone in dismantling Maoist operations in the region. Police sources revealed that the group had been active in formulating strategies and executing operations within the MMC’s special zonal committee area, often posing severe threats to state forces. The collapse of the network, particularly following Majji’s surrender, is being viewed as a turning point in the fight against left-wing extremism.
