United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker will visit New Delhi and Bengaluru from December 7 to 11, the US Embassy said in a statement. The visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and the United States. It will also focus on boosting economic and commercial ties, increasing American exports, and encouraging cooperation in new areas such as artificial intelligence and space exploration.
While in New Delhi, Under Secretary Hooker will meet senior Indian officials to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, and shared goals in the Indo-Pacific region. She will also take part in Foreign Office Consultations with India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. These talks are expected to review key areas of bilateral cooperation and future plans.
In Bengaluru, Hooker will visit the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). She will also meet leaders from India’s growing space, energy and technology sectors. The meetings will focus on promoting innovation in joint research projects and exploring new opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two countries.
The visit is seen as another important step in advancing US President Donald Trump’s priorities of deepening ties with India and supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
On December 6, India and the United States strongly denounced all forms of terrorism, including cross-border terror, and pledged closer global cooperation through bodies like the UN, Quad and FATF. During recent counter-terror talks, both sides sought tougher sanctions on groups such as ISIS, al-Qa’ida, LeT and JeM, and condemned the Pahalgam and Red Fort attacks, calling for strict action against those responsible.
