Nationwide Science Movement
NEW DELHI
The 11th India International Science Festival (IISF) will begin tomorrow in Panchkula, Haryana, bringing together scientists, students, innovators and knowledge keepers from across the country. The four-day festival, running from December 6 to 9, aims to highlight how science is driving India’s growth and how traditional wisdom can blend with modern research.
Started in 2015, IISF has grown into a major national platform for sharing new ideas, encouraging innovation and connecting people with science. Over the years, it has expanded through large public events, interactive programmes and collaborations that bring together government bodies, research groups, universities, industries and civil society. The government said the 2025 edition continues this long effort to place science at the heart of India’s development plans.
This year’s theme, Vigyan Se Samruddhi: for Aatmanirbhar Bharat, focuses on how scientific progress can help India become more self-reliant and prosperous. The festival will show how science supports economic growth, improves daily life and strengthens national capabilities.
IISF 2025 will give special attention to five main areas: the science, technology and ecology of North-West India and the Himalayan region; science for society and education; boosting self-reliance through technology; biotechnology and the growing bio-economy; and combining traditional knowledge with modern scientific methods. Officials say this balanced approach will help India preserve its heritage while moving forward with new discoveries.
More than 150 sessions will take place, covering subjects like biotechnology, space research, artificial intelligence and the role of traditional practices in shaping modern science. Students, teachers, experts and innovators will come together to share ideas and inspire one another.
The festival aims to strengthen India’s science culture and show how scientific thinking can guide the country’s future.
