Writer-cinematographer Bahul Ramesh has hailed Pradeep Ranganathan’s Love Today as a refreshing and inventive take on modern relationships, far removed from what he calls the “cliched and cheesy” storytelling common in contemporary love dramas. Speaking to Galatta Plus, he said the film’s daring look at love influenced by smartphones, social media, and mistrust is what makes it stand out for today’s audiences.
Bahul praised Pradeep Ranganathan for boldly taking on the roles of writer, director, and lead actor, calling it a courageous creative decision. He noted that Pradeep’s meticulous approach ensured “every single second of the movie counted,” resulting in a film packed with unique touches.
He highlighted the innovative montage moments and VFX inserts used during non-dialogue scenes, adding that these choices boosted both humor and pace while appealing to younger viewers who prefer fast, visually engaging storytelling.
Love Today, which sparked debate for its unfiltered portrayal of modern romance, became a major commercial success by crossing ₹100 crore worldwide. Bahul also shared screenplays he admires—ranging from Kannathil Muthamittal and Aadukalam to The Prestige, Ugly, Interstellar, and Kapoor and Sons—placing Love Today among films he considers fearless in their narrative choices.
