Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF) has issued strict orders to its Nandini booth owners, banning the sale of any products other than Nandini brand.

The KMF has warned that booths violating this directive risk license cancellation. In the first stage, notices will be issued to shopkeepers found selling non-Nandini products. KMF Managing Director Shivaswamy emphasized that the federation is committed to protecting the brand’s integrity, which has earned national and international recognition. “Nandini ghee is even used in Tirupati laddus. Selling other brands dilutes the value of our products,” he said.
Some booth owners, who raised concerns about high rents and potential losses if restricted to only Nandini products, have agreed to comply following the notices. “We understand the directive and will stop selling other items from now on,” said a local shopkeeper.
KMF has been taking several steps to protect its brand, including initiatives to curb counterfeit products. The federation has introduced QR codes on ghee packets to help customers verify genuine items. The new rule on booth sales is part of a broader effort to ensure that Nandini products retain their reputation for quality and authenticity.
Consumers and supporters of the brand welcomed the move, stating that it will preserve the distinct identity of Nandini products while ensuring that customers receive genuine, high-quality dairy items. KMF will monitor booths closely and take strict action against repeat offenders.
