‘Priority is being given to improving village infrastructure, including new drainage works across the Gram Panchayat’

In a major push for rural development, MLA ST Somashekar has announced that 44,000 families have been given housing after identifying eligible beneficiaries under the 94CC scheme.
He spoke at the inauguration of the first round of the Gram Sabha for 2025-26, held near Bhimana Kuppe Cross under the Ramohalli Gram Panchayat. The event was organized with support from the Bangalore City District Administration, Ramohalli Gram Panchayat, and various government departments.
The MLA said that priority is being given to improving village infrastructure, including new drainage works across the Gram Panchayat. He added that 14,000 houses are currently being built by the Slum Board in the constituency. A request has also been submitted to the Revenue Minister to regularize farming families cultivating Bagar Hukum land within 18 km of Bengaluru.
District Collector Jagdish urged officials to directly address complaints received through the Janaspandana program to prevent middlemen from creating hurdles. He emphasized that all government benefits and Gram Panchayat services must reach the rightful beneficiaries. He praised the Yeshwanthpur constituency for organizing Gram Sabha and Janaspandana like a public festival.
Ramohalli Gram Panchayat President G. Mahesh said that women’s and children’s protection has been given top priority. He shared that clean drinking water and sewage projects worth around ₹15 crore have already begun. He also appreciated the MLA’s request to close bars and restaurants in the constituency for public welfare.
On the occasion, several benefits were distributed, including 94CC right deeds, tailoring machines for women, water filters, agricultural tools, vegetable kits, labor kits, free hostel facilities, and e-assets.
The program saw the presence of AC Vishwanath, Tehsildar Ashwini, Deputy Tehsildar Kempegowda, President Mahesh G., EO Narayan, BEO Rekha, and other local leaders.
