Shaurya Diwas celebrations put on hold in Rajasthan

Rajasthan’s Education Department has postponed Shaurya Divas events, citing statewide school examinations scheduled for early December

Jaipur
The Rajasthan Education Department on Sunday announced that the planned Shaurya Diwas celebrations on December 6 have been put on hold due to ongoing examinations in schools across the state.

According to a statement issued by the office of Education Minister Madan Dilawar, all government and private schools will be conducting examinations on December 5 and 6, making it not feasible to organise any additional activities or events during the examination period. The department added that the previous directive mandating Shaurya Diwas observance has now been officially withdrawn.

Earlier, the Education Department had instructed schools to commemorate December 6 — the date of the Babri Masjid demolition — as Shaurya Diwas through a range of cultural and educational programmes. The directive, issued under the guidance of Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar, aimed to promote themes of nationalism, patriotism, bravery, cultural heritage and unity among students and school staff.

The circular had recommended that schools conduct essay writing and speech competitions centred on the Ram Mandir movement and Indian cultural values. It further proposed painting and poster-making activities themed around the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, patriotic song recitations, folk dance performances and street plays based on historical or mythological episodes.

Exhibitions displaying literature and photographs related to the Ram Temple construction, along with other historical events described as symbols of Indian bravery, were also suggested as part of the planned activities.

Additionally, the withdrawn directive encouraged mass Surya Namaskar sessions, yoga exercises and a special morning assembly featuring bhajans and aarti dedicated to Lord Ram. Schools were even urged to organise Shaurya Yatras and awareness rallies within their premises, and to invite Army personnel, historians or social workers to address students on nationalism and the Ram Mandir movement.
