Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reaffirmed his commitment to party unity, stressing he has never had differences with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and would not form any faction within the Congress.
Speaking to the media, Shivakumar said, “I went to Delhi, but I didn’t take a single MLA with me. I could have taken eight or ten people, but it wouldn’t have been of any use. I have always worked to keep everyone together.”
He added that if he were to become party president, he would continue to unite all 140 MLAs. “There is no difference of opinion between me and others. Only God knows how loyally I have worked for the party,” he said.
Shivakumar also highlighted his loyalty during the HD Kumaraswamy government. “Kumaraswamy may not agree, but I was loyal to him too. Even his father knows that I worked to save the government. I will never backstab anyone. I fight straight, no matter what,” he asserted.
By reiterating his allegiance, Shivakumar sought to put to rest rumours of internal dissent and reaffirm his image as a steadfast leader committed to the Congress party’s cohesion and principles.
