YOUTH KILLED BY FRIENDS
Mysuru
Tension gripped Mysuru’s Shantinagar locality after a 19-year-old youth was brutally murdered by his own friends during an early-morning outing. The victim, identified as Syed Sufiyan, had stepped out around 5:40 a.m. to drink tea with his friends when the incident took place. The Udayagiri Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
According to the police, the attackers—reportedly addicted to alcohol—picked a fight with Sufiyan during their tea stop. The argument quickly escalated, and the youth was stabbed multiple times with a knife. CCTV footage shows two of his friends chasing him on the road and attacking him repeatedly. He suffered deep injuries to his chest and back. Shockingly, bystanders who witnessed the assault did not come forward to help, leaving Sufiyan to collapse and die on the roadside.
Sufiyan’s parents have alleged that the killers were under the influence of drugs and ganja. They claim that drug misuse among youths in Shantinagar has become rampant, with even young school-going children gaining access to ganja, tablets, and other addictive substances. They said that many local boys roam the area in an intoxicated state every day.
His mother, Shayin Taj, wept inconsolably, stating that her son had gone for morning prayers and later joined his friends for tea, where he was betrayed and stabbed to death. She demanded justice for her son, saying the authorities must act firmly against the drug menace. “If justice is not given, then let them kill us too,” she cried.
Family members added that Sufiyan worked at the Kaveri Silk Saree showroom and was helping support the household. The community has expressed concern over the growing drug problem and the increasing violence among youths in the area.
