Priyank Kharge said leadership concerns should be addressed to the party high command, reaffirming Siddaramaiah as CM, Shivakumar as Deputy CM, with changes decided centrally
BENGALURU
Minister Priyank Kharge said that the Congress high command will take a final decision on the power sharing confusion in Karnataka during a key meeting scheduled for tomorrow in Delhi. He told the media that senior leaders will discuss the matter calmly and put an end to all rumours and internal doubts.
Speaking in Bengaluru, Priyank Kharge said the meeting will also discuss backward class issues and the recent Bihar election results. After that, the leadership will focus on Karnataka’s political situation. He added that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge will take the final call. He also informed that Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Bengaluru soon to attend a family wedding.
Reacting to some MLAs speaking to the media about leadership change, Priyank Kharge said such questions should be raised before the party high command, not in public. He clearly stated that Siddaramaiah is the current Chief Minister and D.K. Shivakumar is the Deputy Chief Minister and state party president. Any change, if needed, will be decided only by the central leadership.
He also rejected the idea that the Congress party depends on one person. He said the party existed before and will exist after any leader. He praised party workers for building leaders and said leaders rise because of people’s support. He reminded that many senior leaders, including Siddaramaiah, Kharge, DK Shivakumar, and G. Parameshwar, have grown through the party system.
On the power sharing issue, he said talks happened earlier but the final word rests with the high command. He added that many capable leaders are in the party, and decisions will be taken in the interest of stability and governance.
Priyank Kharge urged all leaders to avoid public statements that disturb administration. He said unity and discipline are needed to serve Karnataka better.
