CSR drive to transform space under flyovers in Bengaluru

Rao directed completing pending tasks with BMRCL support, improving roads and medians, removing illegal structures, and resolving TDR issues quickly

BENGALURU

Bengaluru’s under flyover spaces will soon get a new life, as Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao ordered officials to use CSR funds for development across East City Corporation areas. During his inspection, Rao said clean and useful public spaces under flyovers can reduce clutter and improve city life.

He pointed to the Iblur Junction project, where beautification has changed the look and feel of the area. At Carmelaram flyover, L and T created a Chaturanga Mandapa style space under CSR, which he asked to be repeated in other zones.
To ease traffic on Outer Ring Road, three entry and exit points are already working.

He directed that pending points be completed soon with support from BMRCL.
Rao also ordered better service roads and median work at Kaikondrahalli.
Illegal structures must be removed, and TDR problems should be solved fast.

He stressed quick drain connections near Wipro to avoid flooding in rains.
On roads from Sarjapur to Chikkabellandur, he said full asphalting and footpaths should follow once TDR clears. The delayed Gunjur Club Road must be repaired after drain work ends.

Rao also ordered removal of illegal footpath shops, boxes, and cables.
He proposed acquiring forest land near Varthur Gunjur Road to build a new stretch. This road will reduce daily traffic stress for local commuters. He finally urged officials to finish pending works fast and create safer cleaner streets for the people of Bengaluru.

The inspection was attended by senior corporation officers and engineers.
Citizens welcomed the move and hoped for quick results.
