Thaawarchand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka, highlighted the vital role of youth in shaping India’s future while presiding over the 14th Convocation of Rani Channamma University. Speaking on the occasion, he remarked that India is rapidly advancing in sectors such as artificial intelligence, data science, renewable energy, climate science, biotechnology, space research, and digitalization, reflecting its growing global influence in science, technology, and innovation.

The Governor emphasized that mere accumulation of knowledge is not enough for meaningful progress. “Intelligence, human sensitivity, problem-solving ability, and an innovative mindset are essential. India’s ancient knowledge traditions also stress applying knowledge for the betterment of individuals, society, and humanity,” he said.

Highlighting Karnataka’s role in driving development, he noted, “From Bengaluru to Belagavi, a wave of innovation and knowledge is transforming the nation. Universities and students are at the heart of this change.” Congratulating graduates, he urged them to pursue excellence, show gratitude to parents and teachers, and contribute actively to India’s growth.

Calling youth the nation’s greatest asset, the Governor said, “With the world’s largest youth population, India’s young minds are leading initiatives like Startup India, Digital India, Make in India, Green Energy Mission, and space research. Do not limit yourselves to seeking jobs; create jobs, innovate, and convert challenges into opportunities with integrity, transparency, and patriotism.”

He drew inspiration from Rani Chennamma of Kittur, praising her courage and determination, and encouraged students to follow her example of service and wisdom.

Shri Shivaji Kaganikar, Shri Vinod Dodannanavar, and Shri Basavaraja Yaligar were awarded honorary degrees during the convocation. Present at the event were Padma Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, Vice Chancellor Prof. C.M. Thyagaraja, and other dignitaries. The Governor also lauded Rani Channamma University for its contributions to knowledge, research, and social responsibility.
