BENGALURU
More than 10,000 residents of Anekal taluk will hold a massive protest on November 29 against the terrible condition of roads in their areas. The protest will take place at the ASB College Grounds under the banner of the Anekal Taluk Citizens’ Welfare Committee.
Residents from Muttanallur, Hebbagodi, Singena Agrahara and nearby areas are joining the protest. They are demanding immediate asphalting of the main roads in Heelalige, Singena Agrahara, Anantha Nagar and Sampige Nagar. According to them, these roads have been in poor condition for nearly twenty years.
The committee said that despite many complaints and requests made to local authorities, no permanent solution has been given. More than 20 apartment layouts in these areas still do not have proper roads, drainage facilities and regular water supply. Due to this, daily life has become very difficult for families, elderly people, patients and students.
Though the problem was reported to panchayat members, the tehsildar and the local MLA, only temporary patchwork was done. But because of heavy traffic, the patched areas break down again within a few weeks.
Shiva Reddy, a member of the committee, said the 3-kilometre road from Huskuru Road to Anantha Nagar and Heelalige is in very bad condition. He added that the underground drainage system in Anantha Nagar is broken, causing sewage water to flow onto the road.
He also claimed that Chandapura, Bommasandra and Hebbagodi panchayats collect about ₹25 crore as property tax but fail to provide basic facilities like good roads and drainage.
Some residents have accused Anekal MLA B. Shivanna of not taking serious action to solve their long-standing civic problems.
The protest aims to pressure the government to take immediate steps for road repairs and infrastructure improvement.
