Senior actor Shashi Kumar has returned to the Kannada film industry after a long hiatus with Rudra Avatara, directed by Savad Mangaluru. In the movie, he plays a responsible father fighting to protect his daughter, highlighting middle-class parental struggles. The film is produced by Dr. Premanand V. Gavas under the Prem G Productions banner, with Savad Mangaluru also handling action sequences.
Recently, a teaser and a two-minute motion poster introducing the main characters were released, showcasing the cast and the film’s unique aspects. Notably, this marks the 26th film featuring the celebrated duo Shashi Kumar and Tara.
Speaking at a press meet, producer Premanand said, I am a businessman, but my aim is to convey a positive social message through cinema. Making this film has been a long-time wish. I loved the story shared by the director, and I also appear in a strong role.
Director Savad explained, Rudra Avatara represents another form of Lord Shiva. The story focuses on how parents dedicate their lives to fulfilling their children’s dreams and fight fearlessly when they face trouble. Shashi Kumar plays the central character representing Rudra Avatara. Shooting starts on November 24.
Shashi Kumar added, This is not a typical hero-heroine story; here, content is the hero. I play an auto driver and father, with many heart-touching sequences. Hearing the first half of the story gave me a thrill. Veteran actress Tara said, Every role is integral; no character is just for show. I am glad to work again with Shashi Kumar and Sangitha.
Other cast members, including Sangitha, Yash Shetty, Vardhan Teerthalli, Ankitha Jayaram, and Sadhana, spoke briefly about their roles. Cinematography is by Alan Bharat, music by Paul Alex, editing by Srikant, and production management by Satish Brahmavar.
