Municipal workers play a very important role in keeping our cities clean and healthy. Their work supports everyday life, just as soldiers protect the nation. Because of this, it is our responsibility to give them respect, dignity, and better working conditions, said Chikka Banavar Municipality Chief Officer Manjunath.
He was speaking after lighting the lamp during the Municipal Workers’ Day celebration held at a private venue.
Manjunath said that steps will soon be taken to build a Rest House for municipal workers to support their health and well-being. He explained that Municipal Workers’ Day is not only a day of celebration but also a chance to think about how to prevent their exploitation, discuss the facilities they need, and talk openly about health-related concerns.
He stressed that municipal workers are the lifeblood of any growing city. He welcomed the government’s move to celebrate Municipal Workers’ Day every year with special focus and recognition. He also encouraged workers to take care of their physical health, follow regular exercise, and continue their duties with dedication.
A felicitation program was also organized during the event. Prizes were distributed to winners of various sports competitions held for municipal workers, and mementos were given to outsourced workers as a mark of appreciation for their service.
The event was attended by Human Rights Protection Committee State President B. M. Chikkanna, municipal officials Danappa, Shivakumar, Venkatesh Basavaraju, engineers Sumathi, Suma, Prashanth Reddy, along with many other officers and municipal staff members. The gathering highlighted unity, gratitude, and the essential contribution of workers who keep the city functioning smoothly every single day.
