Shivamogga
Condemning the recent terrorist bomb blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, District Youth Congress members in Shivamogga staged a protest at Gopi Circle on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. As a symbolic act of protest, they later sent bangles to Shah through the postal department, accusing the government of failing to prevent repeated terror attacks.
Speaking at the protest, KPCC General Secretary N. Ramesh said that terrorist assaults have increased ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre. He recalled the 2019 Pulwama attack, where over 800 kg of explosives were used to target soldiers, and the April 2025 Pahalgam shooting in Kashmir that claimed 26 civilian lives.
Chetan, Chairman of the Handloom Development Corporation, alleged that such attacks tend to occur around election periods. He cited the Pulwama attack during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, violence in Manipur, and the latest explosion coinciding with the Bihar Assembly elections. He remarked that the timing of the Red Fort blast, following surveys predicting an NDA defeat, raises doubts about the government’s handling of national security.
The protesters demanded that the President immediately dismiss Amit Shah for his “incompetence” as Home Minister and sought a transparent investigation into the blast. They urged the Centre to strengthen border security and internal intelligence to prevent future terrorist infiltrations.
Youth leaders Rangegowda, Girish, former NSUI president Madhusudan, Shivamogga City Youth Congress president Charan J. Shetty, Mohammed Ghouse, Abdul, Akash, Anil, Gautham, Ravi, Lingaraju, and Thaufeeq led the protest, joined by hundreds of party workers.
