The first Test between India and South Africa, scheduled to begin on November 14 at the Eden Gardens, will be held under heightened security measures following the deadly blast in Delhi near the Red Fort on November 10. The Kolkata Police have initiated comprehensive safety protocols to ensure the protection of players, officials, and spectators.

In response, the Kolkata Police have implemented a multi-layered security plan around Eden Gardens. The measures include strict checking at all entry and exit points, increased surveillance, and deployment of additional personnel near hotels housing the Indian and South African teams. Police Commissioner Manoj Verma is expected to visit the stadium on Tuesday to review arrangements.

Sources said both teams’ travel routes between their hotels and the venue will be closely monitored. Security personnel will accompany team buses, and rehearsals will be conducted to assess response readiness. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is coordinating with local law enforcement to ensure smooth and safe operations throughout the Test match.

Senior police officials and CAB representatives held a late-night meeting to finalize operational details. In light of the Delhi incident, both teams will begin their practice sessions on November 11 under strict security supervision.

Despite growing concerns, authorities have assured fans that the match will proceed as planned, with “no compromise on security.”
