Chikkamagaluru
The Women India Movement has formally established its Chikkamagaluru District Committee, with Ayish Moodigere appointed as the District President. Asha Santosh will serve as Vice President, Maheen as District General Secretary, Veena Moodigere as Secretary, and Nazrath as Treasurer. Tasleema and Tarannum have been selected as district committee members.
Addressing the inaugural meeting, State President Fatima Naseema emphasized the critical need to raise awareness among women about political representation. She noted that despite women being a majority of voters, their participation in politics remains extremely low. To end violence against women and address their issues, women leaders must actively engage in electoral politics, stand for elections, and advocate justice for the oppressed.
Chikkamagaluru SDPI District President Mustafa highlighted the importance of women’s political involvement. Newly appointed District President Ayish Moodigere presided over the event, while State Committee member Ramlat oversaw the election process. State Committee member Ruby Hasan delivered the concluding speech, and newly elected District General Secretary Maheen expressed gratitude.
The formation of the district committee marks a significant step toward strengthening women’s political representation and empowering women leaders in Chikkamagaluru.
