Chikkodi

The Venkateshwara Sugar Factory in Bedakihal village, Nippani taluk, has announced a price of Rs 3,350 per tonne of sugarcane for the current season, the highest rate in the district. This announcement brings relief and excitement to local farmers who supply cane to the factory.

Factory MD Swaroop Mahadika emphasized that Venkateshwara Sugar Factory has consistently prioritized farmers’ welfare. “For years, we have guided farmers on the benefits of organic sugarcane cultivation through crop camps, introduced modern techniques, and helped increase yields even in limited land areas,” he said.

This year, farmers will initially receive Rs 3,300 per tonne directly, with the remaining Rs 50 per tonne being deposited by the state government, ensuring the total promised price of Rs 3,350 per tonne. The transparent payment system aims to support farmers financially while encouraging the adoption of modern farming practices.

Mahadika also highlighted the factory’s ongoing efforts to improve sugarcane productivity and sustainability, encouraging farmers to implement innovative methods for better output. Local agricultural experts have welcomed the announcement, calling it a positive step for farmer welfare and the region’s sugarcane industry.

The decision reaffirms Venkateshwara Sugar Factory’s commitment to protecting farmers’ interests while promoting sustainable and profitable sugarcane farming in Chikkodi and surrounding areas. Farmers are hopeful that this move will improve their income and motivate them to continue investing in quality cultivation.
