Actress Anupama Parameswaran, known for her roles in Tamil and Telugu films such as Paradha, Kishkindhapuri, and Bison, has revealed that she was recently the target of severe online harassment. In a detailed statement, she shared how an Instagram user had circulated morphed images and spread false claims about her, her family, and co-stars.
According to Anupama, the same person operated multiple fake accounts to post hateful comments on every post linked to her. Deeply disturbed by the harassment, she lodged a formal complaint with the Kerala Cyber Crime Police, who quickly traced the offender. The investigation revealed that the culprit was a 20-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu.
Choosing compassion over punishment, Anupama stated she would not reveal the young woman’s identity. “Considering her age, I don’t want to ruin her future or peace of mind,” she said. However, the actress made it clear that cyberbullying carries legal consequences.
She used the incident to remind social media users about responsibility and accountability online. “Owning a smartphone or accessing social media doesn’t give anyone the right to harass or defame others. Every action online leaves a trace,” she cautioned.
Anupama confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing and urged her followers to report such behavior instead of tolerating it. Her decision to respond with empathy while upholding legal action has been widely praised across social media for promoting awareness and digital responsibility.
