Agarbathi Industry Growth
BENGALURU
Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated AIAMA Expo 2025, India’s largest international conference and exhibition dedicated to the agarbathi (incense) industry, organized by the All India Agarbathi Manufacturers Association (AIAMA) at Tripuravasini, Palace Grounds.
The three-day event, themed ‘Traditionally Modern’, marks a new chapter in India’s agarbathi sector. A key highlight of the inauguration was the launch of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for Indian agarbathis — a significant step that provides a recognized global quality mark for products made in India.
Speaking at the event, Shobha Karandlaje described the agarbathi industry as “a symbol of India’s culture, spirituality, and craftsmanship.” She said the introduction of BIS certification would enhance product quality, promote exports, and position India as a leading player in the global fragrance market. “This move will empower small and medium enterprises and ensure that Indian agarbathis meet international standards,” she added.
Ambika Ramanjaneyulu, President of AIAMA and Managing Director of Ambika Group of Companies, said that AIAMA Expo 2025 celebrates 25 years of industry unity and innovation. “It’s an opportunity for manufacturers, suppliers, and experts to collaborate, learn, and build a stronger global presence for Indian agarbathis,” he said.
Arjun Ranga, Chairman of the AIAMA Expo 2025 Committee and Managing Director of Cycle Pure Agarbathi, said the expo reflects the industry’s evolution by combining traditional artistry with modern entrepreneurship. He added that the event aims to inspire innovation, empower manufacturers, and strengthen India’s position as a global fragrance hub.
Spread over 1,20,000 sq. ft, the expo will host seminars on job creation, raw material sourcing, fragrance research, packaging design, women’s empowerment, export growth, and digital marketing.
Key sessions include talks by mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik on the role of fragrance in Indian spirituality and business coach Rajiv Talreja on scaling family-run enterprises. A special ‘Nos Royale’ perfume creation competition will also be held, showcasing India’s creative potential in scent innovation.
