Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy Conducts Surprise Inspection at Kempegowda Bus Stand

BENGALURU

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy paid a surprise visit to the Kempegowda Bus Stand following complaints from passengers about poor parking conditions and water stagnation during rains that hampered vehicle movement.

Responding promptly, the Minister had earlier instructed officials to level the parking area and take measures to ensure smooth bus operations. During his inspection, he reviewed the progress of these works and directed officials to complete the first phase quickly, with follow-up action planned at two other rain-affected locations.

Minister Reddy inspected all terminals of the bus stand, emphasizing the need for adequate transport facilities, clean surroundings, and the optimal use of commercial spaces. He also stressed the importance of maintaining basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity, and toilets for both passengers and operating staff.

The Minister later visited the BMTC Bus Stand and instructed that the building be cleaned and plants growing on its surface be removed.

Senior officials, including the Director (Staff and Awareness), Director (Information Technology), and Kempegowda Bus Station Division officers, accompanied the Minister during the inspection and reviewed the rest house facilities and staff arrangements.

The visit underscored the government’s commitment to improving public transport infrastructure and ensuring commuter convenience in Bengaluru’s busiest bus terminal.
