Director Dayal Padmanabhan’s much-anticipated film Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku has officially gone on floors with a traditional pooja ceremony held on Wednesday. The event was attended by the film’s cast, crew, and several well-wishers from the industry.
The film stars Vetri and Brigida in the lead roles, with noted journalist Rangaraj Pandey playing a pivotal character. Produced by K. V. Sabareesh under the banner of 2m Cinemas, the movie is written and directed by Dayal Padmanabhan, who also co-produces it under his home banner D Pictures.
Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku, which translates to The Murder Case of Lakshmikanthan, draws inspiration from the real-life murder of a celebrated journalist that took place decades ago. The case had stunned the nation due to the alleged involvement of prominent Tamil cinema figures.
Producer Sabareesh shared, It’s a project many have dreamt of making, and I feel privileged to realize it now. Dayal has taken great care to blend fact and fiction while keeping it engaging for today’s audience.

The film’s ensemble cast includes Saravanan, Lollu Sabha Maran, Ilavarasu, and Kavitha Bharathi. With M. V. Panneerselvam handling cinematography, Darbuka Siva composing music, and shooting planned across Chennai, the film promises a visually striking experience.
