The shooting of director P. Velmanikkam’s upcoming action thriller The Trainer has officially been completed. The film stars Srikanth and Shaam in lead roles and is produced by Neela under the banner of TransIndia Media & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
Inspired by the ‘Kaavalan’ App Initiative of the Tamil Nadu Police, the movie aims to combine social relevance with thrilling action. The Trainer features Srikanth as a skilled dog trainer, with a specially trained dog named Lee playing a key role throughout the film. Shaam portrays a dedicated police officer leading a complex investigation.
The story reportedly revolves around a mysterious gang operating under the influence of an acupuncture doctor. The protagonist, who can identify people through their sweat, cares for an orphanage and becomes entangled in a police probe when he is mistaken for a criminal. As the gang threatens the woman he loves, he sets out on a high-stakes mission to expose the truth, protect the children, and clear his name.
Sources add that the film will feature eight major action sequences, promising an adrenaline-filled cinematic experience.
The supporting cast includes Pujitha Ponnda, Anjana Kirthi, Junior MGR, Vagai Chandrasekar, and Sai Dheena. On the technical side, Arunmozhi Cholan handles cinematography, Karthik Raja—son of maestro Ilaiyaraaja—composes the music, and Niranjan Antony takes charge of editing.
