Bharat AI Revolution
NEW DELHI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a key technology that can help India achieve its dream of becoming ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, said S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
He was speaking at a panel discussion during the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2025) held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Krishnan described AI as a “horizontal and cross-cutting technology” that can transform innovation, social inclusion, and competitiveness. “The true impact of technology lies in how it improves lives and supports national growth,” he said, urging responsible use of AI to build a more advanced and inclusive India.
The discussion featured experts from government, academia, and industry, who shared insights on India’s growing AI ecosystem. Topics included digital infrastructure, development of large language models, ethical AI governance, and global partnerships.
Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY, highlighted the IndiaAI Mission, which focuses on building a strong AI foundation. “India’s biggest strength is its human talent. But for success, we also need accessible computing, quality data, and sustained investment,” he said.
The Mission’s seven pillars—low-cost computers, data platforms, startup support, foundation models, and tools for safe AI—aim to create a trusted global standard for Indian AI.
The session also introduced plans for the upcoming India-AI Impact Summit 2026, which will further explore AI’s role in digital growth, innovation, and international collaboration.
With strong policies and collective efforts, India aims to become a global leader in ethical and inclusive AI development.
