Uncertainty over Ronaldo as FC Goa Gear Up To Face Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo’s availability remains unclear ahead of FC Goa’s crucial Group D clash

Riyadh

Indian Super League side FC Goa face a daunting challenge as they prepare to take on Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr in a crucial AFC Champions League Two Group D encounter on Wednesday. However, the hosts are yet to confirm the availability of their marquee star Cristiano Ronaldo, who has not featured in any of Al Nassr’s three group-stage matches so far.

The Portuguese superstar was “rested” during the first-leg clash in Goa last month, which Al Nassr won 2–1. Fans were left disappointed after Ronaldo opted out of travelling to India, reportedly due to a clause allowing him to skip away matches at his discretion. Despite missing all group fixtures, the 40-year-old forward has been in fine form in the Saudi Pro League, recently netting a brace in a 2–1 win over Al Fayha.

For Manolo Marquez’s men, the fixture is both a test and an opportunity. The Gaurs head into the game high on confidence after an impressive run in the Super Cup 2025, including convincing wins over Jamshedpur FC and Inter Kashi. Their domestic form has showcased improved rhythm, teamwork, and sharp attacking play — qualities they now aim to translate onto the continental stage.

While results in the AFC competition have yet to match their performances, FC Goa made history by scoring India’s first-ever goal in the tournament. Facing a star-studded Al Nassr, they’ll need tactical discipline and courage to pull off an upset.

Under the floodlights of Al Awwal Park, FC Goa will look to channel belief, pride, and momentum as they seek to reignite their continental campaign against one of Asia’s most formidable footballing powers.
