Actor Vijay Sethupathi couldn’t hide his pride as his son Surya Sethupathi’s debut film Phoenix gears up for its Telugu release on November 7. The action-packed entertainer, directed by renowned stunt master Anal Arasu, has already become a blockbuster in Tamil and is now set to captivate Telugu audiences.
Speaking at the film’s pre-release event, Sethupathi recalled how the project came to life. I met Anal Arasu Master during Jawan. He later told me this story and asked if my son could act in it. When I saw the final film, I was very happy — this is a wonderful start for my son, he said with a beaming smile.
The proud father revealed that Surya had always wanted to star in mass action films. From childhood, he used to say, ‘Dad, you should do more mass films!’ His dream has now come true with Phoenix. I thank Anal Arasu Master and producer Rajalakshmi Madam for making it happen, Sethupathi added.
In his trademark humorous style, the Vikram Vedha actor ended his speech by promising to master Telugu soon. I am working in a Puri Jagannadh film now. By the time it’s done, I’ll speak Telugu fluently — maybe even write poetry! he joked, earning applause from the crowd.
Calling Phoenix a blend of action and emotion, Vijay Sethupathi urged fans to celebrate the film in theatres from November 7.
