DK Shivakumar Urges Firms to Grant 3-Day Paid Leave for Bihar Workers

BENGALURU:
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has urged private firms and companies across Karnataka to provide three days of paid leave to migrant workers from Bihar to help them return home and cast their votes in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday, Shivakumar said, “The elections to the Bihar State Assembly are scheduled for November 6 and November 11. A large number of people from Bihar are employed in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka. In this context, I appeal to all companies, industrialists, hotel owners, contractors, builders, and shopkeepers to grant paid leave for at least three days to enable these workers to exercise their democratic right.”

He further said that facilitating participation in elections is a civic responsibility and that every effort should be made to ensure maximum voter turnout from the state’s migrant community.
