A new chapter in advanced and comprehensive cancer treatment services begins *
BENGALURU:
In a significant step toward strengthening cancer care in South India, the Sparsh Hospital Group inaugurated the Sparsh Institute of Cancer Care (Cancer Treatment Unit) at its Hennur branch, launched by Kannada film icon Dr. Shivaraj Kumar on Tuesday.
The new facility marks a major milestone in Sparsh Hospital’s journey to provide advanced, multidisciplinary, and compassionate cancer treatment. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and a team of expert oncologists, the unit aims to offer comprehensive care — from diagnosis to rehabilitation — under one roof.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Shivaraj Kumar lauded the initiative, saying, “It is commendable that Sparsh Hospital has opened a dedicated cancer treatment unit. In today’s time, when cancer cases are increasing, such institutions are a great necessity.”
Dr. Sharan Shivaraj Patil, Chairman of Sparsh Group of Hospitals, said, “We are proud to have added a cancer center to the Sparsh network. When we saw our father, Justice Shivraj V. Patil, battle cancer, we resolved to establish a hospital that provides holistic and humane cancer care. That vision has now become a reality.”
He emphasized that people battling cancer often face complications from other diseases. “Our multidisciplinary team will ensure world-class care not only for cancer but also for related health issues,” he said.
The launch event was attended by actress Prema, former Supreme Court Justice Shivraj V. Patil, Dr. Shekhar Patil, Head of Oncology at Sparsh, and senior medical experts from across departments. Cancer survivors and hospital staff also participated, marking the inauguration with emotional and hopeful moments.
The new Sparsh Cancer Center will not only focus on treatment but also prioritize early detection, awareness, and prevention. Dr. Sharan Patil announced plans to open two more specialized cancer centers in Bengaluru within the next year to expand accessibility and strengthen the fight against cancer.
