Kolar
A tragic incident occurred in Hogari Gollahalli village of Kolar taluk, where a woman and her five-year-old son were found dead in a farm pond early Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Mala (35) and her son Chakravarthy (5), wife and son of Manjunath, a daily wage labourer. According to reports, Mala had gone to the field on Saturday afternoon after picking up her son from the Anganwadi school, as she regularly did, to collect fodder for the cattle. When the two did not return home by nightfall, worried family members began searching for them but were unable to locate them.
The next morning, villagers discovered their bodies floating in a nearby agricultural pond. Preliminary investigation suggests that Chakravarthy may have accidentally slipped into the pond, and his mother likely drowned while trying to rescue him.
Mala and Manjunath had been married for seven years and had only one child. The incident has left the family devastated, with relatives describing the deaths as an unforeseen tragedy in an otherwise peaceful household.
Police from Kolar Rural Station visited the site, conducted a preliminary inquiry, and have launched an investigation. Authorities suspect it to be an accidental drowning, as there were no signs of foul play or domestic conflict. The village remains in shock over the heartbreaking loss.
