Haveri
Haveri District In-charge Minister Shivanand Patil defended Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement suggesting a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying Kharge, as a national leader, has the authority to make such remarks. Speaking after inaugurating an Indira Canteen in Shiggaon on Sunday, Patil told reporters that Kharge had already clarified his position on the issue. “As a senior national leader, he has every right to express his opinion on matters concerning national harmony,” Patil said.
Responding to questions on central grants, the minister stated that providing aid to states is the Union government’s responsibility. “When crops are damaged, compensation should first come from the Centre under the NDRF, followed by state assistance,” he added.
Highlighting state welfare measures, Patil said the government is committed to fulfilling all promises made to the public. “As Haveri’s district minister, I have met many local demands and remain dedicated to addressing the rest,” he assured.
The minister urged people, especially daily wage workers and the poor, to benefit from Indira Canteen and Anna Bhagya schemes, designed to ensure no one in the state goes hungry.
Recently, Kharge had said that the BJP and RSS were responsible for several law and order issues in the country and that banning the RSS was his personal opinion aimed at preserving national unity.
