The “Kayaka Grama” programme was launched on Saturday at Renukapur village in Challakere taluk. Jafar Sharif Sutar, Deputy Secretary of the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department and State-level Nodal Officer, said that effective utilisation of government grants could ensure comprehensive development of villages.
The programme, announced by the Chief Minister in the 2025-26 Budget, aims to identify and develop backward gram panchayats in a holistic manner.
As per government directives, the Panchayat Raj Department’s e-Governance division has prepared a performance ranking system to select underperforming panchayats. Under this scheme, efforts will be made to ensure overall progress through effective implementation of Central and State schemes, regular public service delivery, and improved tax collection.
The event was attended by Gram Panchayat President Janajja, members, officials, and local residents.
