Meeting the Chief Minister, ministers, and senior officials at Vidhana Soudha and Vikas Soudha has long been a challenge for ordinary citizens. Many people visit the offices repeatedly or wait in long queues, often returning disappointed. Acknowledging this concern, the state government has decided to introduce a dedicated mobile application that will simplify the process of checking availability and scheduling appointments with key government functionaries.
Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader said the new app will not only help citizens get appointments with the Chief Minister and ministers but will also serve as a digital guide to both government buildings. Vidhana Soudha and Vikas Soudha together house around 600 offices of various departments, making navigation confusing for many visitors. Through the app, users will be able to locate specific rooms, departments, or officials with ease.
“This is the first time in the country that such an app is being developed for a government complex housing top offices, including those of the Chief Minister and ministers,” Khader said. The app will include real-time information on the availability of ministers and officials. For instance, if an official is travelling or engaged in meetings, those details will be updated in the app so visitors can plan their trips accordingly.
Khader added that the government aims to expand the app’s features in future versions, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in public interactions. The initiative is expected to bridge the gap between the public and administration while reducing unnecessary crowding and confusion in the state secretariat.
Efforts are also underway to make the legislative sessions of the Assembly and Council paperless. Currently, documents such as budgets, bills, and committee reports are printed for MLAs. Once complete digitisation is implemented, these sessions will go fully paperless. Two proposals to achieve this transition have been submitted to the state government.
