Buldhana
A tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district has claimed the life of a 20-year-old man who was recording a social media reel near a railway track. The youth, identified as Sheikh Nadeem Sheikh Rafiq from Pimpalgaon Raja in Khamgaon taluk, died instantly after being hit by a speeding train. His companion, 27-year-old Shakir Sheikh, sustained serious injuries.
The incident took place on October 30 around 3:30 pm near Alsana on a railway bridge. According to eyewitnesses, Nadeem and Shakir were on their way to a wedding when they stopped to click selfies and shoot a reel. Wearing headphones and listening to music, they failed to hear the approaching train. Nadeem, who was standing close to the track, was struck with full force and thrown several metres away, leading to his instant death. Shakir was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Locals said the duo seemed cheerful before tragedy struck, unaware of the danger as they tried to capture the perfect video. The horrifying accident, caught on camera, has since gone viral on social media.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and police quickly reached the spot, cleared the crowd, and began an investigation into the incident.
The heartbreaking event has once again raised serious concerns about the growing craze among youth for making risky social media videos. Authorities have urged people to avoid such dangerous activities near railway tracks, stressing that no online popularity is worth risking one’s life.
