Kumaraswamy Slams CM Siddaramaiah Over Pothole Deadline Remark, Calls It Height of Irresponsibility

Bengaluru

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has strongly criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, calling his recent comment on Bengaluru’s pothole issue the height of irresponsibility. His remarks came after Siddaramaiah told reporters to ask Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar when questioned about the failure to meet the pothole-filling deadline.

Speaking to the media after attending the Sapna Book House Book Fair, Kumaraswamy said he was deeply disappointed by the Chief Minister’s attitude. I listened to Siddaramaiah’s statement. It is completely irresponsible. One wonders whether Siddaramaiah is the Chief Minister or D.K. Shivakumar, he remarked sharply.

He further reminded that it was Siddaramaiah himself who had chaired a meeting and set the deadline for filling potholes across Bengaluru. Now, the deadline has expired, yet the potholes remain as they were. This shows how little respect officials have for the Chief Minister’s own words, Kumaraswamy added.

Expressing frustration over the state of the roads, the Union Minister said that the Chief Minister’s response reflected a lack of administrative control and accountability. By making such statements, it seems as though Siddaramaiah is admitting his inability to function effectively as the Chief Minister, he remarked.

Kumaraswamy concluded that the citizens of Bengaluru continue to suffer daily due to poor road conditions, and that the state government must take immediate responsibility instead of passing the blame.
